DOMINGO GOMEZ HIRED AS NAAB ASSOCIATE TECHNICAL DIRECTOR AND ASSOCIATE SERVICE DIRECTOR FOR CERTIFIED SEMEN SERVICES (CSS)

Madison, WI [August 2, 2023] - The National Association of Animal Breeders is pleased to announce that Dr. Domingo Gomez has accepted the position of Associate NAAB Technical Director and Associate Service Director for CSS, a subsidiary of NAAB.  Domingo will begin his duties in August 2023.

Domingo will work closely with Dr. Brad Belstra and Eliza Roberts, our other Associate CSS Service Directors, to carry out the business of the Association with a primary focus on auditing programs and services as well as technical aspects of the Association.  He will also work closely with the NAAB President and the CSS Board of Directors to identify, evaluate and engage in new opportunities to expand the CSS services to A.I. companies both domestically and internationally.  Domingo will be an integral member of the CSS team that works closely with USDA-APHIS to further develop import and export requirements for bovine semen.

Domingo is originally from Mexico where he grew up raising livestock in the state of Querétaro.  He earned his Degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro and a Master of Science degree in Animal Science from Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua.  He moved to the US in 2006 to work for Smithfield Foods in Oklahoma and Colorado.  In 2013, he relocated to Wisconsin where he worked as a Swine Reproduction Specialist for Fast Genetics, a division of STgenetics.  Domingo obtained his US Veterinary License and USDA Category II Accreditation through certification by the American Veterinary Medical Association.  He transitioned to the STgenetics bovine business as a Bovine Reproductive Veterinarian where he worked until 2022.  Recently, Domingo worked as a General Practitioner in Greenfield, Wisconsin.

The CSS program initially focused on bull health but over time grew to include laboratory and processing procedures.  Today, there is an increasing need to focus on semen processing to assure producers that CSS equates to a high-quality product.  “Domingo is familiar with semen processing as well as sex sorting from his work with Fast Genetics and Sexing Technologies,” states Jay Weiker, President of NAAB.   “Domingo’s experience with other species coupled with his bovine reproduction experience make him a valuable asset to help expand the CSS programs.”

Domingo resides in Sun Prairie, WI along with his wife of 25 years, two daughters as well as two small dogs.  His eldest daughter attends UW-Madison and his youngest daughter is a junior in Sun Prairie High School.  They enjoy walking in the park, having movie nights, and attending plays from the Peninsula players in Door County.  Domingo will be based in the NAAB office in Madison, Wisconsin.

NAAB is the national trade association for artificial insemination businesses.  NAAB members provide artificial insemination services in the USA and more than 100 countries around the world.
