ELIZABETH DONALDSON AWARDED
2020 NAAB DOAK GRADUATE FELLOWSHIP
The National Association of Animal Breeders is pleased to announce Elizabeth Donaldson has been selected to receive the 2020 NAAB Doak Graduate Fellowship.
Elizabeth impressed the application committee with her strong involvement in the beef industry combined with a drive to be part of the future of beef genetic improvement. Elizabeth will earn her Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture with a major in Animal Science and Industry Bioscience/Biotechnology from Kansas State in May completing her degree in 3 years.
Elizabeth grew up on a small cow-calf operation in Berryton, KS. In addition to finishing her Bachelor, Elizabeth is active as the secretary of Collegiate Cattlewomen at Kansas State, a club that focuses on promoting the beef industry and women in agriculture. She is also the historian of the Sigma Alpha sorority at Kansas State and finished an internship last summer at the R&D Department of Phibro Animal Health in Omaha, NE. Elizabeth has a strong passion for research.
Her personal ambition is to research beef cattle nutrition genetics to improve the US beef industry for the benefit of the US beef producer.
The NAAB Doak Graduate Fellowship is a unique opportunity for individuals planning to pursue a career in the bovine genetic improvement industry to earn a Master of Science degree in bovine genetics or bovine male reproduction physiology.
The fellowship was established to develop talent with the technical and management competencies as needed by the future cattle industry. As such, the award is intended for individuals who have long term aspirations in the genetic improvement industry as exemplified by Dr. Gordon Doak, who dedicated 42 years to developing NAAB programs. “With her qualifications and ambitions, Ms. Donaldson is precisely the type of talent our industry needs’ stated Jay Weiker, President and CEO of NAAB. “We are extremely pleased with our second Fellowship recipient and are confident that she will be another fantastic ambassador for the US A.I Industry.
